Calvin J Walker (b.1820-1892)-Married Lizzie Francis Porter. A plantation diary including his fathers estate papers was found in the archives at Duke University. Ended up in Stewart County and eventually Denison Texas. Had 10 children.
Luther W Walker (b.1822-1888)- Married Mary Thompson and settled in Union Springs, Bullock County AL. Had 11 children.
Virgil H Walker Jr (b. 1825-1896)-
Ann Bell (Walker) Phillips-.
In 1825, Pompey, Hampton, Abraham, Charles and John self liberated from Virgil H Walker’s work camp in Putnam County, GA. This is an incredible piece of history but also information. Virgil Walker referenced that he purchased Pompey, Hampton, Abraham and Charles from John Martin of Jones County. And John from the slave traders Lewis + Townsend.
Conditions must have been grim enough to risk death, disfigurement, punishment to escape. How brave and courageous.
